Football gets hit by COVID-19

  • Football has been affected by COVID-19 for the past few weeks.
  • Many famous players are getting hit by the virus.

Half of the PSG tested positive for COVID-19:

PSG star Neymar Jr was recently tested positive for COVID-19 as the virus continues its destruction.

PSG released a statement confirming that three players have tested positive for Covid-19. They are the Brazilian forward Neymar, along with Di María and Leandro Paredes.

Two days later, three more PSG players were tested positive for the virus. The players include – Marquinhos, Mauro Icardi and Keylor Navas. That makes half of the PSG squad affected by the COVID-19.

Diego Costa tests positive for COVID-19:

Former Chelsea striker, Diego Costa is self isolating after being tested positive for the virus, his current club Atletico Madrid have announced.

The Spanish side conducted pre season COVID tests on the players not on international duty. Atletico claims that Costa caught the virus during holidays and will be in isolation. The player shows no symptoms as for now. Costa’s teammate Santiago Arias was also tested positive for the virus.

France goalkeeper tested positive for the virus:

France goalkeeper Steve Mandanda will miss the games against Sweden and Croatia after being tested positive for the virus.

“The test of Steve Mandanda was positive for coronavirus, the goalkeeper underwent a second test in the same day. This was also positive. Steve Mandanda cannot therefore take part in the match against Sweden and will leave the group on Friday.”

Said the French football federation in a statement.

Liverpool left back also affected:

Greek international and Liverpool’s newly signed left back – Kostas Tsimikas tested positive for corona virus just hours before Greece’s match against Kosovo.

The player underwent a test for his condition and turned out he was affected with the virus. The Liverpool left back was immediately quarantined, yet there is a fear that teammates could also be affected.

Liverpool is set to reignite Premier League in their first match against Leeds United on 12 September.
